34 Presidio Terrace

The Beaux-Arts mansion at 34 Presidio Terrace was designed in 1909 by MacDonald & Applegarth who were classmates at École des Beaux Arts in Paris. George Applegarth, a close friend of author Jack London later designed the French Baroque mansion at 2080 Washington prior to designing the Palace of the Legion of Honor museum, which is a full-scale replica of the French Pavilion of the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition, which in turn was a three-quarter-scale version of the Palais de la Légion d'Honneur also known as the Hôtel de Salm in Paris, by Pierre Rousseau (1782).
