The Bourn Mansion at 2550 Webster was designed in the Georgian Revival style with Carolingian influences by Willis Polk in 1896. William Bourn II was said to be the richest man in San Francisco at the time, inheriting a fortune in mining, and then later building up Pacific, Gas and Electric, now known as PG&E. The Bourns' main home was the Filoli estate in Woodside, which Willis Polk also designed. It is well known for its 16 acres of formal gardens.
